Material Nonpublic Information (MNPI) is information that has not been made available to the public in any form, and is not available through proper channels of inquiry. Examples of MNPI include: financial data not yet made public; product or service plans not yet announced; information about mergers and acquisitions not yet disclosed to the public; and insider trading information. MNPI is considered highly confidential and is subject to regulation under securities laws, which dictate when and how it may be used.
