EEOC Guidelines on Sexual Harassment

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has issued guidelines, which apply to employers in all states, stating that employers periodically “should provide [harassment prevention] training to all employees to ensure they understand their rights and responsibilities.” Consistent with EEOC guidelines and court decisions, EasyLlama’s training covers not just sexual harassment, but all forms of workplace harassment, discrimination, and retaliation in the workplace. For example, as required by some state laws, the training also addresses topics such as workplace civility, bullying, bystander intervention, and unconscious bias. How long is the training?

Our training course on stopping discrimination and preventing harassment in the workplace lasts 30 minutes for employees as well as 60 minutes for supervisors. We do also offer specific training for employees and supervisors located in the 7 states that have specific training requirements as well as Canada.

In addition to the above-mentioned states that require employers to provide sexual harassment training, many other states, such as Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, and Vermont, Wisconsin, have laws that “encourage” employers to provide such training. Other federal and state laws, regulations, and court decisions have made clear that employers should provide anti-harassment training to all employees in all states.
